The Chocolate Room
To acquaint people with the history of the sweets legend LAIMA and the traditions of chocolate making, the museum Chocolate Room was opened at the end of 2005 on the company’s premises at Miera iela 22, Riga. In it, alongside many vintage chocolate wrappings, a documentary made in 1924 that tells about the activities of the company can be viewed; also, one of the first dark chocolates made in Latvia in its original wrapping is on display there, as is the export register of the company from the 1930s, in which chocolate dispatches to New York, Stockholm, Haifa and other cities have been written out by hand.
Since 12 June 2008, several historically exclusive exhibits have been added to the exposition of the Chocolate room. Now, it is possible to view a unique, more than 100 years old chocolate doll, which is quite probably the oldest object if its kind in the region.
On visiting the Chocolate room, visitors can actively participate in the cognitive process by watching a historical film about the beginnings of chocolate making in Latvia and get to know the chocolate production process in the JSC LAIMA production unit.
Be sure: you will receive the answers to all your questions from a chocolate expert. And, of course, you will be able to see not only but also taste the candies!
