The activity of joint stock company LAIMA includes the manufacture and wholesale trading of chocolate and sugar products. Laima currently employs around 500 people.

Joint stock company STABURADZE produces bakery goods. Staburadze currently employs around 120 people.

Joint stock companies LAIMA and STABURADZE currently offer a wide selection of products. The Laima trademark is represented by around 240 product titles: chocolate bars, assorted filled sweets, selections of chocolates, zephyrs, milk candies, assorted filled caramels, soft caramels, dragées. Staburadze produces around 70 custom-packaged Laima products: wafers, wafer cakes and cookies.

The products of Laima and Staburadze, which are distributed through the sales channels of joint stock company LAIMA, can now be purchased not only in Latvia, but also in almost 20 countries across the world: Russia, Germany, Israel, the USA, Canada and others. The company is working on expanding the export volumes in its current export markets: Estonia, Lithuania, and Germany.

In 2008, the company mostly concentrated on increasing turnover, modernising its technological processes and increasing profitability.

8795,67 tons of chocolate and pastry products were produced in joint stock company LAIMA in 2008 (9553 tons in 2007). The net turnover of 2008 was 31,607,459 lats (in 2007 it was 31,816,667 lats).

5962,05 tons of products were produced in joint stock company STABURADZE in 2008 (5821,8 tons in 2007).

By uniting high quality, modern manufacturing technologies and the secrets inherited from the old masters, the existing sweets have been improved and new ones are being invented and are able to interest every buyer, which is ensured by the company’s production unit. The production unit is a department of the company consisting of two production units in joint stock company LAIMA and one in joint stock company STABURADZE.

THE JSC LAIMA PRODUCTION UNIT (Miera iela 22, Sporta iela 2) comprises several stations:

  • The cocoa bean stations. Here, cocoa beans are made into intermediate products: cocoa mass, cocoa butter and cocoa powder. The semi product for the “Assortments” line is prepared there: chocolate for shaping. Chocolate masses that end up on the chocolate production line, where chocolate bars of all kinds are made, are also produced here.

  • The mass and coating stations. Candy masses, coatings and other semi products for other stations are produced here.
  •  The candy production lines. High-quality products are made on these lines: fondants, pralines, jellies, liqueur and fruit caramel sweets.
  • In a separate station, milk, caramel, marzipan and chocolate sweets for exclusive selections are made only by hand.  
  • The “Assortments” production station.The “Assortments” line produces the “Assortments” sweets of dark, bitter or milk chocolate with different fillings.
  • The zephyr marmalade department. Produces zephyr, marmalade, dragées, soft caramels, and milk candies.

THE JSC STABURADZE PRODUCTION UNIT (Artilērijas iela 55) comprises two departments:

  • The wafer department. Produces wafers and wafer cakes.
  • The biscuit department. Produces sugary biscuits.
